Luke French

‍ ‍

Originally from Westville, Nova Scotia and now based in Halifax, Luke French is an emerging rapper bringing a sharp, cinematic edge to modern hip-hop. Drawing influence from artists such as Griselda, Kendrick Lamar, and Eminem, French blends gritty lyricism with carefully crafted production, balancing classic boom-bap inspiration with a contemporary underground sound.

French first began gaining recognition in Halifax after intentionally resetting his catalog and focusing on a new era of music that better reflected his artistic direction. In November 2024, he released his debut project Forever Hold Your Piece, marking the beginning of a refined sound and creative vision. The project helped establish French as one of the city’s most promising emerging voices in hip-hop.

Alongside frequent collaborator C Stone-Léon, French performed his first Nova Scotia Music Week (NSMW) showcases, further building momentum within the Atlantic Canadian music scene. Over the past two years, he has performed more than 20 live shows across the region, steadily expanding his audience and reputation as a compelling live performer.

In October 2025, French and Léon released the collaborative project Tokyo, Sayonara! with respected Toronto producer Ghostboyrj, bridging Halifax’s underground scene with Canada’s broader hip-hop network. Around the same time, French’s work received a Nova Scotia Music Week nomination for Hip-Hop/Rap Recording of the Year, signaling growing recognition for his evolving sound.

Continuing to develop both as a rapper and producer, French is building a catalogue defined by sharp storytelling, atmospheric production, and a clear dedication to pushing Atlantic Canada’s hip-hop scene forward.
